Program Types
ABET has four accreditation commissions. They lead and conduct ABET accreditation activities for college and university programs in the disciplines of applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree levels.
The commissions and their programs are described as follows:
1) Engineering Accredition Commission (EAC) has only one type of program for all differents fields of Engineering. We call this program type "ABET-EAC Engineering"
2) Applied and Natural Sciences Commission (ANSAC) also has only one type of program for all disciplines. We call it ABET-ANSAC Applied and Natural Science.
3) Computing Accreditation commission (CAC) has three types of programs:
(a) ABET-CAC Computing (Computer Science)
(b) ABET-CAC Computing (Information Systems)
(c) ABET-CAC Computing (Information Technology)
4) Engineering Technology Accreditaion Commission (ETAC) has two types of programs:
(a) ABET-ETAC Engineering Technology (Associate Degree)
(b) ABET-ETAC Engineering Technology (Baccalaureate Degree)
